    Moe Support Staff Collective Agreement

    Teacher assistants voted for pay equity, and all support staff voted to change their collective agreement! Pay equity for teacher benefits includes salary increases, changes in the way skills are assessed, a new allowance, changes in the number of hours that may vary, and career development. This is the First offer from the Ministry of Education since the expiry of the collective agreements of the coaching staff in July. Many of our support staff are specialists who work with children with disabilities and their children to ensure they have access to a fair education. „This offer does not solve the broken system, which means that so many support officers have no job security and manage without pay outside of school. We need the government to address it urgently by negotiating a fully funded pay equity system for teachers as quickly as possible, and other support officers are moving quickly. 3.15.4 A worker who starts work during the year does not have access to an annual contract until early next year. 3.3.3 Workers whose hourly rate or annual wage exceeds the maximum rate at the time of counting or during the duration of this collective agreement maintain this rate.     Support officers received their first offer on November 29, 2019 and voted on December 10, 2019 to ratify a settlement of their collective bargaining.
